70 legal experts and HRMs from West and Central Africa met in Libreville, from April 8 to 12, 2024. Understanding the importance for member ports to contribute in implementing international conventions, these experts discussed their role not only in the interpretation of the said conventions which can at times be very complex, but also in facilitating their implementation.
The experts also dwelled on the legal framework for teleworking in the Ports of West and Central Africa. It was observed that few countries are framing legislation for teleworking though many ports already began integrating it, especially during the Covid period. The success of integrating teleworking depends on the level of digitalization. The progress registered thus far encourages PMAWCA ports to take on the process of implementing teleworking.
