The Port Management Association of West and Central Africa joined the Interregional Maritime Safety Institute – ISMI of the Regional Academy of Maritime Sciences and Technology (ARSTM) to officially launch the SAFE PORT project this Monday, October 16, 2023 in Abidjan.
Funded by German Cooperation over the period 2023-2024, this project is placed under the management of the United Nations Institute for Study and Research (UNITAR) and implemented in partnership with the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA). Thirteen (13) ports in West, Central and East Africa have been designated, namely Abidjan, San Pedro, Cape Verde, Banjul, Conakry, Bissau, Monrovia, Lagos Apapa, Freetown, Nouadhibou, Owendo , Maputo and Luanda.
The SAFE PORT Project aims to contribute to reducing the vulnerability of ports in West and Central Africa in terms of security and safety by strengthening the capacities of civil and port stakeholders.
