8th Session of the ‘’Café des Experts’’ Webinar on the 20th October 2020PMAWCA Admin
In recent times, PMAWCA secretariat has recorded a huge success in the organisation of the ‘’Experts Cafe’’ seminar by videoconferencing in partnership with the Port of Marseille Fos.
As previously announced in September 2020, the 2nd series of this seminars began on the 20th of October 2020, the theme this time was ‘’Management of Dangerous Cargo’’ thereby making it a total of (8) eight webinars presentations since it began in April 2020.
This theme was necessitated by the recent explosion caused by nitrate ammonium at the port of Beirut in Lebanon. PMAWCA secretariat revisited the fundamentals of dangerous cargo management as this merchandise also forms part of the cargo imported by most port members and major port players.
This 8th session was very interactive with the sharing of experiences followed by 2 presentations, 1 by: the President of the PMAWCA Harbour Masters and PFSOs network Captain James Quayson, and the 2nd one by the expert from the Port of Marseille Fos, Mr. Phillip Roux.
The ports of Douala, Pointe Noire, Port of Lomé and Ports of Cotonou described the situations in their various ports.
We hereby thank all the participants, most especially Mr. Bernard KOFFI of ECOWAS, who is in charge of issues on sustainable environment and Colonel Boniface KONAN, Executive Director of CRESMAO (Regional Centre for Maritime Security of West Africa) who both took part.
Next appointment will be in November 2020, this will be the final session of the ‘’Experts Café’’.
