Each PMAWCA Member port and organisation is expected to nominate expert delegates in the relevant fields to attend these meetings.
The Committees will review the 2017 budget implementation, consider 2018 budget proposals, and discuss relevant legal and administrative issues concerning ports and the Secretariat of the Association. The delegates will also share experiences on topical subject matters concerning relevant to their work. Participation in this meeting is free of charge for PMAWCA members. |

Meeting of Board of Directors | This meeting is to be attended by the Director Generals of the 6 members Ports that currently serve on the Board of PMAWCA (Cape Verde, Ghana, Gabon, Nigeria, Guinea and Senegal).
The Board meeting will assess the results of work done by the Association including the report of 2017 accounts audit, review and approve the work programme for 2018, approve the budget for 2018, approve the draft programme for the 39th Council meeting to be held in July 2018, review other partnership arrangements and projects of the Association, among other issues. |

Seminar on quality, safety, environmental (QSE) management in ports – contemporary challenges and global initiatives
+ MARENDA Project update workshop

This is a technical seminar to address knowledge gaps in members ports on contemporary issues concerning the service quality, safety, health and environmental management.
The seminar will be done in partnership with external experts from the IMO and other consultants. Member Ports will be required to pay a fee for participation in this seminar. The exact fee will be communicated in due course. The last 2 days of this seminar will be dedicated to a training course on the MARENDA project for the 5 pilot ports (Dakar, Abidjan, Tema, Lagos and Douala) to enable them effectively operate the platform for the capture and sharing for ships information. |

39th PMAWCA Council Meeting and 14th Round Table Conference/Exhibition | The Annual Council is the apex organ of PMAWCA and is attended by all Managing Directors/DGs of member ports and organizations.
The Council’s responsibility will be to assess the work of the Association and the Board for 2017 including the results of the work done by all the technical committees; approve the work programme for 2018, approve applications for new membership, and hold a round table conference on topical issues of interest to ports. The activities will also include a World Bank Workshop for MDs/DGs on the Guideline for Containers Terminal Concessions. Participation in Council meetings is free of charge for PMAWCA members only. |
AUGUST 2018 | ||

Practical language proficiency for ports in Lome (French course), and in Accra (English course) Note: A tailor-made course could be organized for participants of Member Ports that will require the training to be done for them either earlier or later than August 2018. |
Member ports and organizations are to nominate relevant employees to participate in this training in order to acquire the needed proficiency in English and French which are two of the three working languages of PMAWCA.
Courses for Portuguese language will be conducted in subsequent years. Member Ports will be required to pay a fee for participation in the language courses. The exact fee per participant will be communicated in due course. |

IAPH Africa Conference: Theme: “African Ports and Hinterland Connectivity” | Under the auspices of the IAPH Vice President for Africa (MD of Nigerian Ports Authority), this Conference will bring together Africa’s ports and transport logistics sector operators to examine the state of connectivity between the ports and hinterland markets, assess gains so far, learn form best practices in other parts of the world in order to improve on ongoing efforts by Africa to open up the hinterland not only to ports but also to its productive centres.
There will be no participation fee for this conference. |

5th Meeting of PMAWCA Harbour Masters’ Network |
Each member Port is expected to nominate its Harbour Master and Port Facility Security Officers (PFSOs) to attend this meeting to share knowledge on issues concerning their work, cooperative arrangements among ports, and between ports and national/regional bodies to enhance maritime navigational safety, security and environmental protection.
Participation in these meetings is free of charge for PMAWCA members |
NOVEMBER 2018 | ||

Conference of the Pan African Association for Port Cooperation (PAPC); to be jointly organized with the annual Council meetings of the Port Management Association of Eastern and Southern Africa (PMAESA) |
The Pan African Association for Port Cooperation (PAPC), which also covers the IAPH-Africa region, holds a conference every 2 years to enable ports to engage at the continental level and share knowledge and experiences on key topics of strategic interest.
For 2018, our sister Association PMAESA, is scheduled to host the PAPC Conference in Mauritius. All Managing Directors/DGs of member African ports are expected to attend this conference. The PAPC Conference attracts a small participation fee, which will be communicated when the time approaches. |

The Committees will review developments in ports in the relevant subjects, ongoing and planned projects and lessons to improve performance and project delivery, share knowledge on topical subject matters concerning ports, and propose relevant subjects for knowledge sharing for the coming year. Participation in these meetings is free of charge for PMAWCA members. |
DECEMBER 2018 | ||

Technical Workshop on strategies for commercial, marketing, communication and Information management in ports. | This workshop will enable key personnel of ports to acquire new methodologies and techniques as well as practical experiences on commercial strategies in the area of marketing, communication, public relations and information management.
Member Ports will be required to pay a fee for participation in this workshop. The exact fee per participant will be communicated in due course.

- 2. This list excludes meetings of other Partner Organizations such as: IAPH, IMO, AIVP, ECOWAS, AUC, SSATP, UASC, Abuja MoU on Port State Control, MOWCA, etc, to which members of PMAWCA may be invited to attend as and when appropriate.
